Charles Krug is home to Napa Valley's very first tasting room, which opened in 1882 for public tastings in St. Helena, California. In 2022, they were awarded a Best of Wine Tourism Award for being the “Cultural Hub of Napa Valley”.
 
In 1943, Italian immigrants Cesare and Rosa Mondavi purchased the historic Charles Krug property, which remains a family-owned winery producing estate-driven Napa Valley wines. The brands of C Monday and Family were built on a foundation of family values, hard work, and a European winemaking tradition. The wineries are under the direction of Peter Mondavi Jr. and Marc Mondavi, who steward the family business passed to them by their father, legendary Napa Valley wine icon Peter Mondavi Sr.
